  • Okay, if we can pretty agree that ALL consoles have good releases, I wanna know why some of you freaks are buying second and third consoles.  Seriously, why?!

  • Because playing them is not enough, we have to bitch about them daily, too. We had a Gameplay forum, but it got replaced by GameFAQs.

<div style='font: 11pt "EngraversGothic BT", "Copperplate Gothic Light"; text-align: left; '>Then understand this: this month's rent is more important than spending $500 on two consoles. <div style='font: 11pt ; text-align: left; '>Well as you get older there are more bills to pay, but consoles aren't that much cheaper, I mean SNES started at $150 or $200 upon it's release, the PSX started at $350, in comparision I got my GC for $150. I own every console from Atari to GC, just need a X-Box, and yes, I am filthy rich.</div>

<div style='font: 10pt verdana; text-align: left; padding: 0% 10% 0% 10%; '>Consoles are the same price they have always been. They start high, come down low.

Seriously, not being able to afford a new system is very different from not seeing why someone would buy another one.

On the other hand, a GC plus Metroid is about four PS2 games. Will you buy four PS2 games in, say, the next six months? I never would - I don't have the time. But I do have the time for one game (spread out over a semester or so.) So you (maybe) buy the four PS2 games, and I buy a GC and Metroid.</div>

<div style='font: 11pt "EngraversGothic BT", "Copperplate Gothic Light"; text-align: left; '>You can buy plenty of games for that money. I have a PC, a Dreamcast, and a PS2, and that's all I'm going to buy. Because the DC is more or less dead, I'm not even going to consider that a current console, so I only have one console system. Back in the day, I had a PSX and that's IT. Most of my friends when I was a kid either had a SNES or a Genesis, a NES or a Sega Master System (actually, nobody really bought the SMS).

Now, everybody's talking about owning all three systems, like we suddenly got rich or something. When you're planning on buying a system, you already have a good idea on what kind of games it's going to have. There are some surprises, but it's more or less what you want. After you buy your console, get some games for it. If you played those games, go get some more games for it.

Why are you people so swayed by everybody else here talking about the latest game? "Kingdom Hearts is here...everybody is playing it! Oooooh, I got to have it, even if I don't have a PS2." "Metroid Prime is here...everybody is playing it! Oooooh, I got to have it, even if I don't have a GC." Shut up! Quit getting envious! Have some goddamn self-control, and quit acting like a goddamn five-year-old! "Mommy, mommy! I got to have that game!! Can you spend $250 on it?!" A good game will come along on your system, and you can brag all you want then. Hell, I've even surprised on the good shit coming out for the XBox. If you're thinking of switching systems, you're not looking hard enough.

I don't even have enough time to play the shit that I DO have. This is not including the fact that I'm playing E&B all the damn time. I haven't finished FFX, even though I'm near the end. I just completed MGS2, though I'm in the middle of a second game. Unlocked all of the characters in Tekken Tag, but I still have some movies to unlock. THPS3 only has two levels unlocked. Still haven't touched Suikoden 2, and with 3 out, I need to play it. Vandal Hearts 2 is barely into the story. Haven't gotten past the first level on Parappa 2. My replay of FF7 is only past the first city. My replay of FFT isn't even that far.

And then there's my DC, with my 100 or so burned games, including Soul Reaver 2 and RE:Code Veronica, which I've barely touched on either. Even if I get bored with all of the Capcom titles and other miscellanous gems, I still have a DC SNES emulator, a DC NES emulator, and a DC Genesis emulator. (And yes, I had a lot of fun playing Actraiser on the SNES emulator. I was hooked on that one until I finished it.) On my PC, besides E&B, I'd still like to try out a bunch of the new FPSs out, like UT2003 and Alien vs Predator 2. Warcraft 3 is sitting as a burned CD, but I haven't even touched that.

Good games are fucking EVERYWHERE! The market is oversaturated. Quit focusing on the games you want, and play the games you have! Quit focusing on the systems you want, and play on the systems you have!</div>

<div style='font: 9pt ; text-align: left; '>No shit if you have 100 burned CDs of games for a console you'll be able to find some good games to play. So what if you don't pirate? You go with big-name games that are good, because there's less effort involved and less time put into it.

It's not about being a spoiled brat, it's about finding a title that piques your interest and obtaining it.

It's goddamn sad that the crux of your argument is based off of having zillions of games because of piracy. Kind of blows it away when you don't have that kind of pirated stash, no?</div>

<div style='font: 9pt ; text-align: left; '>It's basically extra money people have after paying things like rent, or food, or other such things that need to be paid.

Now, many might spend this money on movies, or perhaps a nice meal, or booze, or maybe a bag of reefer. Now, what I think these people are doing, is instead of buying drugs with this money, they prefer to save up this here "discretionary money" so that they can buy a new game system along with some games that they may want.

Now stop making stupid statements about the rent, of course nobody is skiping the rent for a fucking game. People manage to buy plenty of booze without skiping the rent too you know, did you manage to figure out how that works genius? It's the same concept, just minus booze and plus video games.</div>

<div style='font: 9pt Arial; text-align: left; '>....how much they squander on food, clothes, travel, etc... (even those on a budget). This is not to say that you shouldn't buy food, or clothes, etc. It just means that people need to learn how to eat cheap (but well) and to only buy enough clothes to get by (and not to waste it on too much of any one thing). And yes, I've had a lack of money for buying games lately. But the main reason is cause i've spent hundreds of dollars from each of my recent paychecks on music. Again, it's the prioritizing. ^_^</div>
